For about three years if you saw Tim and I working together at any event chances are it was Paige who was at home with my girls. During those years we celebrated birthdays, took senior pictures together, and I watched her grow up right before my eyes with my own kiddos by her side. Paige is a part of our family and watching her become Mrs. Sheets on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Wachesaw Plantation Club in Murrells Inlet, SC was an honor that I can't truly describe.
Tim and I have shot almost 400 weddings in the past 15 years and this is the first time I have cried multiple times and even got caught doing it! As if seeing her momma, my Katie's elementary school principal, zip her in her dress and then her grandmother showing her the secret basketball she sewed into the lining of her dress as a surprise wasn't enough, watching her daddy see her for the first time was a moment I'll keep in my heart forever. Due to an unexpected diagnosis years ago, this sweet bride was extremely aware of how blessed she was to have this time, this day, with her daddy by her side every step of the way. (Be sure to find the image with their special handshake at the end of the aisle).
Although the ceremony was originally planned to be outside on the lawn facing the water beneath the old oak trees covered in Spanish moss, the weather took a turn and prevented that but we were left with the most perfect plan B I've ever seen.
The ceremony took place on the side porch of the restaurant on property that was conveniently located in the same building as the reception. The wood floors, screened in sides, and tin roof left everyone feeling like they stepped into a romance novel. As the maid of honor said, it feels like The Notebook.
Tyler, the handsome groom, quickly asked me after the ceremony if I caught him ugly crying and I assured him it was more of a "pretty cry". He is a hard working WV boy who is clearly so ready to be the man to take care of this independent nurse and with his friends and family by his side they celebrated the entire day (and night)!
Before I send you off to the images, I have to give a huge shout out to the vendors of this event. The DJ, Broadway Jake, was absolutely amazing and in control of each step at the reception. He brought lights, literal fireworks, and dry ice to make everything over the top in the best way.
The staff of Wachesaw were professional and so accommodating to this stranger of a photographer and treated us so kindly all evening; even making sure we had a wonderful table full of delicious food and beverages. They went above and beyond to make use feel more like guests than vendors.
The videographers of Eli Williams Productions, as always, were awesome and got every shot they needed without being intrusive to myself or the family, which is a very big deal in the wedding world!
You may wonder why I haven't mentioned the florist; well, the florist was Aunt Pam and her team of family member assistants who put together the most beautiful bouquet and completely covered in babies breath arch at the altar. These ladies turned a home across from the venue into an actual floral shop and it was a sight to behold!
The biggest thanks however should go to all those friends back home praying for a break in the weather. The day was supposed to be a complete wash out and the day before showed 98% rain at every hour. However, God is bigger and we all believed and beyond all scientific explanation, at 6:10 when we walked out for portraits the rain stopped. We shot in the location where the wedding was supposed to take place and even her favorite spot, Richmond Hill. At 6:56 as we were getting back in the car, the rain returned but not before we took the portraits she's always dreamed of.
Please enjoy some previews from a day I will never forget.
